Login, 2FA and EU phone number

Why is it that Swisscom requires Swiss phone numbers for 2FA? As it is, you will hold email accounts hostage since many may have started to use Swisscom over the years and then stayed on. Now 2FA may make it impossible to access one's account. For sure either disabling 2FA or 2FA for any phone number should be an option?

YES, these comments are perfectly understandable 😠

However, Swisscom is a telephone operator for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, so 2FA is only accepted for telephone numbers from these two countries.

This also applies to incoming call forwarding, where the phone number to be forwarded to must be from Switzerland or Liechtenstein.

It's possible that in the future, if Swisscom has a more international outlook, numbers from other countries will be accepted for 2FA.

Thank you for the quick reply. I can understand that Swisscom does not necessarily want to cater to the whole world but I think I do not only speak for myself when I say that many might have started to use Swisscom while living in Switzerland and then just continued to use Bluewin after leaving. As it is now, you might end up in a situation when you suddenly cannot access your emails anymore since 2FA is required to login and you cannot provide a Swiss phone number. Would it not be acceptable to bypass 2FA at one's own risk?
