Checking if a phone has been financed

Hello,

Is it possible to check if a phone purchased from Swisscom was fully paid for and not financed? The item in question is being sold in Poland and I don't want to risk it being locked from usage in case the buyer suddenly stops paying.

One way is, if possible, to use the SiM card of other providers, if they are recognised, there is no SIM lock on it.

Probably, but I have the IMEI number provided by the seller, so I thought maybe it's possible to check it. Supposedly it doesn't have simlock, but I don't know if the phone can be locked out in case it's a financing deal.

@Grevieneiff68 What you can try at least for an Iphone:

You can also find out the SIM lock status of your iPhone using the IMEI number, which you can find in the settings under "Info". On MyimeiUnlock.com you can then use this number to check whether your iPhone is locked.

For Android: On IMEI.info

you can get a lot of information, including the simlock status, by entering the IMEI number of your mobile phone. You can find the IMEI of your Android mobile phone in the settings at the very bottom under "Info about device".

I've tried the imei.info site as the phone is a Samsung Galaxy S23, but there isn't any useful information. Maybe Swisscom customer support would be able to check in their database?

As Gaeilgeoir and Doremi have mentioned already you should always be careful if you buy a phone from an unknown source and Swisscom can check if a phone was purchased with an instalment, but Swisscom is not allowed to provide information about to a third party. Maybe you can ask the seller for a receipt about this.
