No, if you have a foil on it, it won’t do you any good, or it could possibly look even worse. It’s actually easiest with a foil. If it’s scratched, just take it away and put a new one on it, and you’re done.

Prevention is even better than cure. I don’t know the problem with scratched displays, even though I have used the phones for up to 6 years and don’t use a case or a protective film. The only protective measure I take is to make sure that there are no other objects in my trouser bag or jacket pocket other than my smartphone.

Most smartphones have an oleophobic and anti-reflective coating. If you rub it with a paste, you might get rid of the scratch, but you’ll always end up with a smeared display, which reflects even more strongly in daylight. My tip is to always wear a good protective glass like the one from Belkin. They give a lifetime guarantee and if it is damaged you can simply get a new one for free via support 😉

In my experience, things like toothpaste etc. do little or no good. You usually only damage the grease-repellent coating of the touchscreen. In the worst case scenario, the device looks much worse after being treated with such stuff. There is absolutely nothing you can do about deep, clearly visible scratches anyway, other than having a new device or glass replaced. If anyone wants to try toothpaste, do so at their own risk. As I said, most of the time it doesn’t help at all or only minimally, if at all! In addition, such polishes that can be bought in stores are nothing but a waste of money. Made by Uriella 😄
