VPN L2TP on Android 13

Hi All,

I have just bought new Samsung Galaxy S22 and was really surprised that Android 13 doesn't support L2TP any more, but only IKEv2/IPSEC.

Please enable IKEv2/IPSEC on Internet-Box.

@Black Mamba the IB's do not support newer and more secure generations.

It would be great if Swisscom could implement this in the future as new generations are getting more secure.

@MichelB is there technically any option to run Docker Containers inside the Internet-Box? As Swisscom turns off new Features like NAS or Smart-Home-Features a small docker-container with a simple UI could bring features like industry-leading NAS or VPN features.

@Zeibiokeuch40 if you need a VPN, i could recommend you using a Raspberry Pi with DietPi as Operating System. There you are able to install Wireguard manually.

I like the containers idea, but given that Swisscom is strongly (regular) consumer oriented, I doubt we'll see this feature implemented. Imagine the support calls once the customer start deploying containers.

For that you'll need to bring your own router, Mikrotik for example:

@bitracer sure, but there are several points Swisscom could improve this situation:

"New Generation" of VPN-Providers
- It should be quite easy to improve the whole vpn-system using a new and more secure version of a vpn-protocol.

Or simply using dockerized-containers but showing the data directly where we do currently have the vpn-settings. Sure there could be implications but I do not think, that Swisscom should then access the containers remotely for support-purposes.

If you update your internet-box's firmware to 13.20.26, VPN IKEv2 is now available and I can confirm it works fine with Android 13.
