Connecting to the internet

I have just arrived in Switzerland, and trying to get my internet set up.

We have a connection here, but I have been told that I need to call out an electrician to get the internet connection set up by Swisscom - I am confused as to why I need to do this since the internet portal is set up in my appartment - isn't Swisscom responsible for all the set up procedures?

If the internet works, you don't have to do anything. Otherwise, the electrician must connect the line to the correct terminal on the building entry point. However, this is usually only necessary if the previous tenant of the line did not have a Swisscom line.

If you have ADSL line at home and "Fiber to the Home" (FTTH) is available at your address, Swisscom will take care of pulling the fiber.
