Trash: Emails deleted after approx. 7 days

  • After about 1 week, the emails in the trash are definitely deleted - no longer visible.

Every now and then I look for something older.

Is there a way to increase this duration?

    Best thanks and greetings

    • Your Apple devices may automatically delete the emails earlier than the 30 days that Bluewin grants you. The setting for this is maximally hidden:

Take a look under Settings -> Mail -> Accounts -> [Account name] -> Account -> Advanced -> Remove deleted emails

Maybe you’ll find what you’re looking for there. This would probably have to be configured separately on all your Apple devices.

Emails in the trash are deleted after 30 days - you cannot change the duration. This is documented here. However, you can create your own folders in which your emails are kept safe.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

    @mischl

Emails older than 30 days (the date the email was sent) are automatically deleted from the Trash.

To prevent this, you should create folders in webmail that correspond to the available storage space, otherwise use an external email program such as Thunderbird (free) or Outlook (paid).

    • On which device and with which app do you download the emails? There may be individual settings that can be changed.
    • Does it affect a Bluewin email address or another email domain? If you use Bluewin, check in Bluewin Webmail whether the emails are still in the trash

    Generally:

The recycle bin is not a long-term archive!

    1. bluewin address
    2. webmail, iphone, ipad

I only see emails from all places in the trash up to and including last Saturday.

30 days would be git, 7 is too short

    thanks and greetings

Thanks in part to my computer science studies, I am well-informed about folders and long-term archiving, thank you very much.

It’s about the core question: how many days are messages visible in the trash can? Deriving from this, why do I see 7 and not 30 days.

Thank you very much for the focused recording of the requirement and the limitation to it.
