A simple question that I haven't been able to find an answer for.
Is it possible to reconfigure the SFP+-port to act as a LAN port?
The Swisscom connection at my location is a measly 16/1 Mbit/s, with an upgrade to fibre optics something that will not happen in the next decade.
As I now have a IB3 sitting around, with an SFP+ port that's not used for anything currently, I was wondering if I could connect a switch to it (or my NAS for example) - so that the local network can take advantage of the higher speeds.
- Is this possible with or without configuration?
- does having a internet booster change anything? (as the LTE connection is more or less 5/5 Mbit/s it wouldn't make much of a difference to disconnect it)
Alternatively I could buy a 2.5 or 5Gbit switch and connect it to the 2.5Gbit port, but I'd prefer not "wasting" the SFP+ port
