That’s right, I’ll do it that way too. Threema as a messenger is ok; Many of my contacts use this, otherwise the native tools from iOS or - the good old email, but with S/MIME from SuisseID, because many now only use “secure transmission” using @hin in the business environment, specifically Telemed etc Using a network, however, is not worth the price

Yes, the parallel operation WA/something else has also become “naturalized” in my environment. In my environment, Threema is used for “something different”. I don’t have Signal or Telegram…
And so it becomes tedious again when I have to think about which of my contacts I can reach via which channel.
That’s why I stick with phone, SMS and email. This is still the common denominator through which I can reach everyone and can be reached by everyone.
Unfortunately nothing has changed for me. Colleagues practically only use WhatsApp… At school, however, the rather cluttered Teams app is apparently also becoming commonplace, and Skype is also popular at work.
It would be great if there was a standard 😉 Or then declare RCS as a European standard and force Apple to implement it…

Skype (for Business) is almost dead and is being replaced by Teams…
My experience:
The younger the clientele, the more likely they are for WA (along with Snapchat and co.), middle-aged people (and IT savvy people) are more likely to move away from WA to Signal, Threema & co, and seniors prefer to stay on the WA they know

What a crap. I don’t see anything difficult about it…

Nope, it doesn’t have to be that way. Both WA and Signal are also available as desktop programs without a browser.
But - a browser is always open anyway - right?
How did you come up with this thread title? 🤔

What nonsense. I don’t see anything difficult about it…
If everyone can soon be reached via a different channel, then at least from my point of view it is not exactly user-friendly and certainly not in the sense of unified communication. But to each their own.
The discussion is a bit old, but I still want to add my two cents. I’m not from St. Gallen. Ahaha
At the beginning, some of my contacts switched to Threema and/or Signal. Now I communicate via Threema, Signal and Whatsapp.
But the whole thing seems to have calmed down again, and a few people switched back to WhatsApp. It’s just a hassle having to use three apps. I don’t mind, but I guess I’m the exception.
And if we’re honest, because of the GDPR, the whole data exchange thing with Facebook isn’t as bad as it is in the USA.
It’s the same as always: First there’s an outcry about privacy and data protection and after a few months of grass-roots issues, most people just accept it at some point.
