Pro7 HD, Orf HD, 3+

Since this topic hasn’t been addressed in a while, I’ve opened a new thread.

At the beginning of the year, Swisscom announced that it was in talks with Pro7 and ORF. They will be broadcasting these channels in HD this year…Now a new HD package is coming - without ORF or Pro7 HD!!

How are the conversations going? Are they even managed? Is Pro 7 HD still coming? And if so, will it be hunted down like Pro7 Switzerland?

The exclusive contract between 3+ and Cablecom should also have expired by now. So here too is another Swiss channel that is missing on SC TV!

I would be grateful for a solid answer from someone who knows something about it…We can already provide answers such as the discussions are still ongoing or are simply still taking place from Cablecom…Swisscom can definitely do it better 🙂

Greetings

Hello everyone

I would also be very interested in this answer, I am very happy with Swisscom TV, unfortunately 3+ is missing at the moment…

I can’t give you an official answer either. But the topic is also discussed in other forums and it is said that the contract of 3+ has been extended.

On [http://klarsicht.mattschiibe.ch/2010/10/27/millionen Schaden-swisscomtv-wird-fur-3-zum-problem/](http://klarsicht.mattschiibe.ch/2010/10/27/ million-damage-swisscomtv-is-becoming-a-problem-for-3/) there is more information about it.

As is well known, Pro7/Sat1/RTL HD would only be delivered with a recording lock and for money, so it would be a neutered pay TV. Whether the customer and Swisscom want that - I don’t know. It can definitely stay stolen from me.

For legal reasons, ORF HD only comes when it can be intercepted via DVB-T from the border. It is encrypted on the satellite and ORF is not allowed to deliver maps to Switzerland.

This would mean that ORF HD will never come!

Pro7 HD won’t come either, and if it does, it will be neutered.

Legally speaking, Swisscom can decrypt the channels. Without paying. The Germans or Austrians cannot sue Swisscom because they have no rights to do so… There are private providers who feed Pro 7 HD and Orf HD into their cable network for free… Swisscom will not risk this…

3+ have extended the contract? Theoretically, Cablecom can’t pay that much…unless the owners are really stupid!

I can’t understand such behavior from Pro7 or 3+.

Yes, the providers are in Switzerland. They also know that they are in a gray area…

What about Kabel 1 HD, Vox HD, RTL HD? Should these, like Pro7 HD, only be accessible under these conditions? According to the description on Kabel 1, Kabel 1 is also free TV in HD…

No, by law a signal redistributor is only allowed to distribute what can be received unencrypted “with normal effort”. The GGA Maur once fought this out in court with the BBC.

Anything that is encrypted may only be decrypted with the consent of the sender. In the case of ORF, however, they are not allowed to give consent because they only have the broadcasting rights in A. But if ORF broadcasts unencrypted (DVB-T) in HD near the border, things look different. The SD version is already coming into the country.

@micro

Thanks for the clarification.

While we’re on the subject of HD TV… Do any of you know if and when SF1 and SF2 will switch to HD?

2012 is planned. But I don’t know whether it’s the beginning, the middle or the end

The HD channel thing is an interesting topic and I would like to see more of it. As far as I know, the ARD festival is also available in HD. Can someone tell me why we don’t broadcast it in HD?

Satellite users tell me that ARD Festival only broadcasts a loop and no real program. Then it would be understandable that no one would spread it.

mirco: Thank you for your answer about ARD festival. Always thought the whole program there was in HD.

Snowmanch: It would be nice to receive the RTL advertising in HD! This would give you a better idea of whether your teeth will really be that white with the new Oral B… :-) All joking aside! As far as I know, all the private companies charge a fee for their HD channels. I understand that Swisscom is not participating. After all, HD doesn’t make their program any better. However, it would be nice if all public broadcasters would soon offer HD. But this will probably still be a long way off… :-(

This has already happened on ARD and ZDF. SF plans to do this at the beginning of 2012 and unfortunately you have to move to Austria for ORF 😉

I can also understand why Swisscom is not taking up Pro7’s offer! If you have Pay TV, please do so without advertising. If I can’t record Pro7 and watch the stuff later without ads, I don’t want it anyway 🙂

Does anyone know what it’s like in Germany? Are they not allowed to record the HD program? Or in Austria?

ORF, on the other hand, would have been nice! With your first name of course 🙂 Will there ever be an opportunity here? Can’t we make some kind of bilateral agreement?

Otherwise, Swiss television will delight us in HD…

ORF HD is already being broadcast unencrypted in South Tyrol. This could possibly be received in the Münstertal or at the Umbrail Pass with normal antenna effort.

But I don’t know whether this is really the case. Nor whether Swisscom has considered this. After all, this is in one of the outermost corners of Switzerland and I don’t know what additional infrastructure would have to be created there.

I don’t need the German private films in HD if the advertising can’t be skipped and if I have to pay for it. And Swisscom wouldn’t get it for free either, it’s also encrypted. And they only exist with the German advertising window and not with the Swiss one, which is why the German private broadcasters probably have no interest in offering this in Switzerland. So there is still a lot that speaks against it. The negotiations will show it. I think that at least negotiations are taking place.
