The 169 IP that you see in the error message actually means your IBS no longer assigns an active IP.

To rule out configuration errors, it’s best to do a reset with the paper clip while the system is running and then see whether it can then assign the correct IP addresses again with the reloaded default values.

Addendum:

The Asus that is also attached to it, is it running in router or AP mode? If it runs in router mode, it must not have the same root IP as the Internet box, because if both routers use the default root address 192.168.1.1, for example, the 2 DHCP servers would get in each other’s way.

If the hard reset doesn’t help, I would replace the router.

Thanks for the info. The Asus should run in AP mode. I only need it so that I have enough Wi-Fi power on the balcony, otherwise nothing works.

So then I save the router settings and do a reset.

With an optimally placed IB3, the WLAN coverage problem would probably be solved without the additional Asus transmitter.

But if the material is available and you are satisfied with the IB Standard, a change is not necessarily necessary.

Yes, that could well be possible, I don’t know the IB3. In our apartment everything runs via a distribution box and I would like to keep it that way. I don’t have a tangled mess of cables anywhere except in my office 🙂

Having a local backup of the config is always a good idea.

With the reset, the router returns to factory settings and many of the individual settings are lost, but the router must already work correctly with the factory settings.

In your error situation, I would do the first test of the DHCP function before restoring the saved config.

Yes, the most important settings are loaded again from the Kundencenter; i.e. WiFi settings and router password (it’s possible that more will be reloaded, but I can’t say right now).

But I would be careful about reloading the backup. If possible, I would briefly document the settings I made myself and then re-enter them. It shouldn’t be too much effort. Background: The IBS has already received a few version updates, and a lot has happened. Setting everything up again cleanly is safer than possibly a messed up config. to load back.

There’s something I didn’t mention because I didn’t think it was relevant, but maybe that’s the reason. There is a switch (Netgear pro Save GS108E) between the router and the four devices. Could it be that the switch has a problem, broken or something?

That can certainly be the case.

To test it, simply connect a device directly to the Internet box and you will see it immediately.

Yes, it really is defective. I connected two of the devices directly to the router and it works.

I didn’t even have the switch on the bill.

I don’t know your specific switch, but if it’s not a SW problem with the switch that can be solved by updating or reinstalling the firmware, then there’s certainly nothing to repair.

They can - theoretically…

With a new price of just under 50 francs and a technician’s hourly rate of e.g. 100 francs, the new price is already through after 30 minutes and without any replacement part costs…

In short: Rep. is not worth it (unfortunately)

I just looked up how much the part costs. For this price it’s probably not worth buying anything other than a new one.

Does it make sense to buy the same switch again (Netgear GS108E) or perhaps something different for the future? The size is ideal for this one.
