Disney stops broadcasting Cinemagic

Hello everyone

Disney will stop broadcasting its German-speaking family and children’s channel Cinemagic on September 30, 2019 throughout Switzerland (not just on Swisscom TV). Disney has not provided any information about the reason for discontinuing Cinemagic. Disney would have to answer these questions. Swisscom is currently examining possible alternatives.

Greetings Samuel

As a replacement there will be “Disney Movies on Demand”.
-> Best entertainment for the whole family, whenever you want. Thanks to the Telelcub Now function, we make a selection of the best Disney hits freely available to you on demand in the Teleclub Family package.

Well, bravo, if that’s all, then it’s already UPC like. Cinemagic was not only available in the Teleclub package, but also in the Top German +.

Swisscom is simply not to blame for this. The channel will be discontinued, and it should be clear that Swisscom is not allowed or able to finance its own Disney channel. The films also cost Swisscom something to offer them on demand.

@TiRohn What do you suggest Swisscom should provide as a replacement?

Show original language (German)

@roku73 it’s just that the offer is reduced but the costs probably aren’t. Nobody is saying that the Disney channel should be replaced by a Disney channel, but it is also clear to everyone that it is not possible. But an alternative for the Teleclub package and Top German + customers wouldn’t be too much to ask for at the same price. An alternative for a very popular station would be to offer customer service.

Let’s see what happens.

It is difficult to replace the transmitter. Even Sky wanted to continue the contracts with Disney. Discontinuing Cinemagic was Disney’s excuse. Sky is even discontinuing Disney XD without replacement. With UPC or Teleclub the sender is still retained. There are still exciting Pay TV channels that have not yet been activated by Swisscom.

Silverline TV

Pro7 Fun

Nicktoons

Sports 1+

Sat.1 Emotion

BonGusto

Sportdigital

Jukebox

Blue Hustlers

There would be something for every taste. So hop Swisscom! Bring a few of these channels into the Top + program. The customers are waiting.

I’m getting fed up. Channels are constantly being tuned. Now also Cinemagic, the channel our daughter loved. Streaming? No thanks, don’t think so. I pay for this channel package and if no equivalent replacement is found, I will cancel Swisscom.

Show original language (German)

No, it is not okay for Swisscom to occupy a vacant slot that previously had a full-fledged channel with a channel that only shows advertising and is intended to encourage customers to make a purchase. To purchase an additional - expensive - package, as a channel alone is not available. Without compromising the price if you don’t buy the channel or the package.

Swisscom is already expensive enough as it is, with a not quite adequate price/performance ratio.

@Claudio68 Again, Swisscom can’t help it. The Disney Cinemagic channel was operated by Sky Deutschland. Since Disney will soon be launching its own streaming platform worldwide called Disney+, the two companies (Sky and Disney) have decided not to continue operating the channel.

Don’t you believe in streaming? Actually, Swisscom TV is a kind of streaming, but you probably don’t think of it that way. Don’t you use YouTube on Swisscom TV? That works without any problems.

Television will change a lot in the future. Here is just a small selection of the major streaming providers, who are gradually only showing many things exclusively on their platforms.

- Teleclub Now / On Demand
- Netflix
- DAZN

- Sky Sport / Show / Store

- Amazon Prime Video

- Apple TV+ (from November 1st)

- Disney + (planned in 2020)

- HBO Max (planned in 2020)

Many more already exist and many more will be added.

  • Doc likes that.

@Claudio68, you don’t understand what this is about. Nobody blames Swisscom for the station being gone. There’s nothing she can do about it. She is accused of having taken up this vacant slot with an advertising channel.

I never wrote that I hate streaming services. That’s not the point either. In addition, streaming would be the same thing. You pay extra for something that was previously included in the subscription price.

@Gross-ATuin

“She is accused of taking up this vacant slot with an advertising channel.”

What kind of advertising channel do you mean? For me the channel is completely gone (Top+ German) without a replacement, not even in the time slot.

not true, this channel continues to be shown on UPC only SWisscom stopped it for no reason, so Swisscom takes us for granted my sister has UPC and the channel so why is Swisscom lying?
