Android Update 3.2.5 - SMS with Location

Hi all,

I received an Android update yesterday on my htc desire s. The update has added some brilliant new stuff.

HOWEVER

Since the update I keep getting SMS from 50 with the location of the phone

for example BASEL SUED OST

Anyone got any ideas?

Maybe you have to uncheck CB activation.

Messaging> Menu button> Settings

Thanks heaps.

I suspected it would be something like that and have been looking for a place to switch these types of messages off. Unfortunatly on my HTC Desire HD I could not finde antyhing that would allow me to either switch off the Cell Display or the push notifications.

SO unfortunatly your solution does not work on my HTC desire.

You R correct, but with the HTC Desire HD it looks and is named a bit different.

Go to

Menu > Setting > Call > Other call settings:

Take the tick out of the Cell Broadcast tick box

Works a treat!

Using a Samsung Tablet 10.1 based on Android 3.1

I tweaked for fun some options and was suddenly receiving empty cell broadcasts CBSMS at 04:00.

I suggest you start the Android Messaging App, and then look for Settings in the menu.

You should find several “broadcast” / CB type of options. Just deactivate them. At this time to the best of my knowledge no services have ever been published to use this feature in Switzerland.
