Fiberglass

Good day everybody

I have a question for you:

I have had a fiber optic socket installed in my home since April ’19.

But when I go to the Swisscom Checker website, the following is displayed:

Between December 2019 and April 2020, your location will be expanded with fiber optics.

I am therefore wondering why the fiber optic socket was installed six months earlier without me being able to use it.

Is it even possible to use the fiber optic connection earlier if everything is already installed at home?

I thank you until then

Hello Walter 🙂

How do I see this?

Greetings

I can’t tell you that either, here in the area where we live (Baden and the surrounding area) we all already have a direct fiber optic line from an installation company and everyone was told which provider they could connect to and Swisscom isn’t there.

Hello @blockbuster98

General explanation:

Fiber optics are often built in collaborations.

St. Gallen = SKA

Zurich = City of Works

Etc

A fiberglass can has up to 4 fibers in it.

1) Fiber goes to the cooperation partner

2) Fiber goes to Swisscom

Depending on the expansion contract, the builder may use the fiber first before opening it to others.

This is probably what it will look like for you.

The 2 fibers are never the same length, one center is at point x and the other at point y

They really went full throttle on your street with the blue ones, but the glass isn’t quite finished on the other side.

I would be happy if the date according to Checker is known.

Hello Lorenz

Thank you for this great explanation 🙂
I’m not a specialist 😉

I also believe that your theory is correct because otherwise it would be a joke to have a fiber optic socket without being able to use it.

I hope that it will be kept on time

Can I somehow check whether the socket is already working?

Thanks again and greetings

Thanks for your answer 🙂

I think (I’m no longer sure) that the Anschluss was installed by TechCom (electrical installer).

I therefore suspect that it was commissioned by the municipality.

Until then, thank you 🙂
