After switching to Internet Box2, Gigaset SL400 no longer works

  • Yesterday I switched from the Internet Box to the Internet Box 2. Everything worked perfectly, only the analogue telephone Gigaset SL400 just reports “Please check the telephone connection”.

    Troubleshooting attempts so far:

    • RJ11 cable replaced
    • Tried Gigaset on ATA1 and ATA2
    • Box completely rebooted
    • Anschluss checked in Kundencenter -> Everything OK

Unfortunately nothing has helped so far. What else could I do?

The idea is to operate the Gigaset not on the Gigaset base station, but directly on the Internet box.

You can test it briefly, because you can’t lose anything.

To do this, the DECT base station of the IB2 must be switched on, then press the plus button and then see whether you can register your Gigasetmobile directly to the base station of the IB2.

This can also work with older Gigasets and may solve your problem directly.

If you do want a new DECT phone, the usual suspects are the Gigaset SL450HX as a premium version and the CL660HX as a budget version.

You can easily buy them at the cheapest daily price from the usual online retailers and the Gigasets are in any case superior to the Swisscom co-branded models with the Swiss city names.

Addendum: Forget the Swisscom proprietary stuff. If you want to connect an IP-capable base station via LAN, use the Gigaset SL450 GO or a similar model, for example, because everything that has a GO-Box 100 as a base station at Gigaset can also be operated as an IP telephone via LAN.

    Hello @pat67

You can also connect the telephone directly to the IB2 without connecting it to the ATA Anschluss.

To do this, press the + button on the router and then on the phone in the phone settings.

After a short while your phone will be registered.

But actually both ATA ports should be running on the box. If you have an old wired telephone at home, you could plug it in there and then you should have a buzzer.

As a technician, I still have an old bone (telephone) with my customers where I know it works.

It’s been a long time since I heard anything about the ATA interface being defective on new devices.

I just called the hotline and everything seems to be fine from their side. So I have to organize another analogue phone to see if mine would suddenly be incompatible.

    Hello @Lori-77

I don’t really understand the plus button. Wouldn’t that just be for DECT phones? Mine is an analog device.

I have just connected another, analog telephone. That doesn’t make any difference either. The SC hotline said that in exceptional cases the analog connections on the IB2 could be broken. Since I don’t want to change everything again, I’m looking for an IP telephone for better or for worse…

Please note: Only DECT HD telephones according to the CAT-iq 2.0 standard can be registered directly to the integrated DECT base station of the Swisscom Internet boxes. You can find devices tested and recommended by Swisscom in the Swisscom Shop

    Hello @antric

Thank you for your hint. But I will probably have to expand my network with a Rousseau 10 base station because my IB2 is too far away. That was also the reason why I still used an analogue telephone.

There would then be an additional Zermatt mobile unit running on it. Both support the CAT-iq standard.

    Correct?

    @pat67

What I don’t understand, by the way, is that if you’re actually happy with your current analog phone and the only problem is the broken analog connection on the IB2, why don’t you just exchange the IB2 as a warranty claim?
