VPN App weg / Internet Box Plus

  • Hello everyone

I have the problem that the VPN app is no longer displayed on my router, so I can no longer use VPN. I’ve already searched the forum but can’t seem to find anyone who has the same problem as me.

The expert mode is activated and the application part is switched on, the services “Dynamic DNS service from Swisscom”, “Central storage”, Home App access on the go" and “Speed test” are available.

The following information about my system:

    - Internet Box Plus

    - Firmware version 09.02.08 / 09.01.52

    - Web portal version 01274

    - DHCP range: 192.168.1.101 - 192.168.1.201

    - IP app part: 192.168.1.201

    - Port forwardings to AUTO

    - IPv6 standard

    I have already done this:

    - Complete reset of the box via the interface

    - Complete reset of the box using the reset button on the back of the box

    - Switch on/off

    - Manual firmware upload

    - IP of the application part set to automatic or manual, with different IPs, currently it is running with the IP 192.168.1.201 (according to the error message, the IP must be outside the DHCP range)

Does anyone have an idea what else I can do?

When I call Swisscom support, they just tell me to reset the router, but as we all know, this didn’t help.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Greetings Damian

    • Hello everyone

As promised, I’ll report back after successfully changing the router.

Today I connected the router that Swisscom sent me.

Now the VPN app works wonderfully again and the entire installation was much faster than with the old router! There really was a memory defect, as @Anonymous and his team discovered.

Thank you @Anonymous and @Anonymous for the help and great support!

I have one last question: What should I do with the old router?

Dispose? Or can you send me a return label?

Thank you and have a nice Sunday.

    I re-flashed both.

    FW version: 09.02.08/09.01.52

Probably no longer guaranteed, but I’m not sure.

Do you suspect a hardware defect? Seems a bit strange to me too, the other apps are there.

I’m not willing to pay 99 just because Swisscom can’t manage to write decent software without bugs. And who can guarantee me that the IB2 won’t have exactly the same problem after a certain time?

If I don’t find a solution I’ll probably have to switch to another router.

I need VPN for various things and don’t want to be without it any longer…

    @dhartman

Why do you want to complain anymore - the most error-free Swisscom software is the one you don’t use anyway.

Simply downgrade the Internet box to pure Internet access and hang behind it a broadband router that you bought yourself and which you manage completely as your own network, then at least you know that it is your own fault if problems arise…

    @dhartman
Please name some providers who write error-free software.

Anyone who claims or believes that there is error-free software probably doesn’t live in this world.

Guido and his team found out that the box had a memory error, and now I’m getting a replacement device.

I’m on vacation at the moment. As soon as I have installed the new box and the problem has hopefully been solved, I will give feedback here again.

    Thanks!

I just wanted to prevent SC from simply charging me for the router because I didn’t return it…

Otherwise I’ll just keep it, maybe I’ll be happy… 🙂

It’s your property anyway - that was the case in the last millennium when routers were rental devices.
