8 tips for higher bandwidth at home

Dear community

We have an exciting blog article on the topic of “higher bandwidth at home”, which I would like to share with you.
If the internet is slow, it’s not necessarily due to a network glitch or a subscription that’s too small. Small interventions often help to improve WiFi reception at home. Click here for the article.

Hi @SamuelD. Thanks for the clearly written article. I have a few more comments: First of all, point 3: which current Swisscom router has SMA antenna connections? Don’t know anyone. Then I would have chosen the order of the points slightly differently; my prioritization would be ¼/6/⅞/⅗/2. Otherwise I think the article is great, thank you!

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Hi @SamuelD

I also think the article is well written. But I would also change the order as written by @PowerMac. In point 4 it says that the cable connection is preferable to all other types, but as the second point I think that starting with the worst/most unreliable variant is incorrect.

Greetings, Thomas

The article is all well and good so far, but unfortunately I can’t follow the advice.

1. As far as I know, my Internet Box Standard does not have a Anschluss for an external antenna.

2. Unfortunately, changing channels is no longer possible, as this has been deleted in the new version of “My Swisscom Assistant”. Unfortunately, my location is extremely WiFi contaminated, around 20 networks.

It would be nice if at least it was possible to change channels again.

@POGO 1104 I didn’t write the whole article but just added my tips on a few points. Admittedly, the order could have been arranged differently.

To the points of channel change and external antennas. We are not referring purely to Swisscom products.

Of course, where possible, LAN cable is preferable to all other connections

The new WiFi box works perfectly with the IB2 (as a repeater). I now only have 1 WiFi network and that in the whole house (basement up to the 2nd floor)

If you don’t have a LAN Anschluss on the 1st floor, if so the data throughput would be even greater if you could connect the WLAN-Box there as an access point!

Otherwise, the new WLAN boxes are very good with the amplification of the WLAN.

The WLAN-Box is registered near the Internet-Box 2 or Plus or Internet-Box standard and then switched off and switched on again at the new location and then connects to the Internet-Box, that’s it.

Use as a WLAN repeater
If the existing WLAN is not sufficient, the WLAN-Box expands the WLAN of the Internet-Box, the Internet-Box standard or the Internet-Box plus, thereby enabling a better range and higher WLAN speed.

Important: There should only be one ceiling or wall between the Internet box and WLAN-Box in order to achieve the best results. If there are more obstacles, the speed will be reduced.

N.B. Now the price of the WLAN-Box is back to Fr. 79.00, as an Easter gift

The price was CHF 59.00!

Just don’t forget, the best thing is always a direct LAN connection!
