Questions about the digital audio output on UHD boxes

The UHD box does not have a purely optical digital output. You go out via Toslink. What about the formats that this output outputs digitally? Can you set the UHD box so that the signals go out in PCM stereo? That’s why I plan to hear the sound in stereo via my DAC. This varies depending on the TV box. Should have PCM 2.0 in the digital output. The DAC does not accept other formats.

Hello @Swissco

I don’t fully understand you…
In my opinion, the UHD STB clearly has a purely optical audio output, namely an S/PDIF output via Mini-TOSLINK connection.

When the STB is in Stereo or Stereo TruVolume modes, the STB always outputs a PCM (L/R Stereo) signal via S/PDIF and HDMI interface.
When the STB is in surround mode then the STB can output -> PCM or DD2.0 bitstream or DD5.1 bitstream depending on what the audio content is being consumed on the STB.

Hope this helps you.

Greetings
