  • Hi tame

A colleague from abroad asked me whether Swisscom banks allow SMS abroad (specifically Sri Lanka).

She only needs a prepaid payment to log into eBanking once a month. Apparently Lebara Mobile has stopped this service! Can I recommend Swisscom Prepaid to her with a clear conscience?

    Warm wishes

    • Whether an SMS sent to a Swisscom SIM card also arrives abroad (roaming) can be seen on the Swisscom roaming website:

      https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/mobile/auslandtarife/tarifabfrage.html

\=> Switch/scroll all the way down to the “Roaming partner” section.

\=> For Swisscom prepaid SIM card offers, simply select “Natel Easy”.

According to this information, SMS sent from Swiss banks to a Swisscom prepaid SIM card should arrive in Sri Lanka when using one of the 5 listed mobile phone providers.

When purchasing a Swisscom prepaid SIM card, the buyer must identify himself with a valid government ID (e.g. identity card, ID, passport).

Swisscom has a roaming agreement with Sri Lanka. No one can probably confirm for sure whether you receive text messages from the bank.

    Depends on the sender (bank).

It’s best to have it confirmed in the shop.

    Hello Marcus

The colleague is abroad and is no longer coming back XD

How can the shop confirm this to me or where did they get the information?

    Warm wishes

In order to take out a subscription, you need to show a valid ID and this is not so easy to do from abroad.

For relatives, for example, the possibility of a relative taking out such a subscription in their name.
