New software version available for your UHD TV-Box (2.61.10)

Hello everyone

A software update for the UHD TV-Box is available, which will be distributed to all customers with a UHD TV-Box in stages over the next few days.

Our customers expect the following innovations:

Netflix in UHD

Good news for all streaming fans: With the new software you can finally enjoy Netflix on your TV and in UHD quality! You can find the app in the Appstore and with your Netflix account you can access all popular content such as Narcos, The Crown and Co. You can also register for Netflix on TV-Box and pay conveniently via your Swisscom bill (so-called “carrier billing”).

Unified Lineup

Your channel list will be even easier: channels will no longer be differentiated according to SD, HD and UHD quality. When selecting a channel, the TV-Box now automatically selects the best available video quality. This makes your channel list clearer; each channel only appears once.

Accessibility

You can now activate optional settings for people with visual and hearing impairments under “Settings > General Settings” in the “Accessibility” menu item. This makes Swisscom TV even more accessible to those affected. TV programs that support accessibility are displayed in the TV Guide using yellow tiles.

Premium Convergence

With Premium Convergence it is possible for the first time to watch the channels from the pay packages, Teleclub, Canal+ or sports events on your smartphone, tablet or online. In addition, the apps and TV2.0 Air can be used to create recordings for all of the channels mentioned and access most rental and purchase videos. Premium Convergence is available from December 15, 2016.

UHD recordings

Since the launch of the UHD TV-Box you have been able to enjoy selected films and channels in UHD quality. Now you can finally add selected UHD channels to your recordings. The channels that can be recorded are Vision TV UHD, TC Sport Live 1 UHD and TC Sports Live 1 UHD, with more channels to come in the future. Note: For paid sporting events, recordings can currently only be started if the broadcast has already started. Available from December 15, 2016.

Stability

This software version also includes numerous improvements to increase stability.

@SamuelD

I already have the new version and it works well.

I haven’t seen the Netflix app yet, will it be delivered later?

Is the Netflix app really available on both SCTV 2.0 boxes?
Or just on the UHD box?

In principle, the Netflix app should immediately catch your eye as soon as you click on “App” on the STB.
Whether it only works with the UHD box or also with the HD box is currently beyond my knowledge. Until I get home 😉
I may have leaned out of the window a second time, but so be it…
Answer will surely follow…. 😉

Has anyone actually tested the box? I don’t get any replays or get any information about a show.

The same thing here and the Netflix app is not available on my UHD box.

Since I basically only want to record SD contributions (storage space), I would like to know how I can get back to the SD channels. MDR also has the HD version (Thuringia region) and the SD version (Saxony region). I would like to have both again.

Do I have to cancel the HD package first in order to be able to receive SD channels again?

Show original language (German)

Currently only 1 channel is offered, depending on the available bandwidth, the system automatically decides whether it is the SD or HD version. So much for a new feature that brings a lot of relief and clarity.

Now users who are not happy with this new feature are coming forward and presenting objective arguments as to why they still want to choose between SD and HD themselves.

If many people want that, it will certainly be examined and expanded. But it just takes time.
