Data package activated for no reason

Hello,

I travel a lot for work, and since December 2015 data packages are activated (for no reason) when i land in a new country. I have a Nexus 5 and I have always kept the cellular network, data roaming, etc. off -since I bought the phone-. All of a sudden, from December, instead of receiving amessage indicating the tariffs, I receive a message indicating that the data package is now active.

I never asked for it, and I get charged for these data packages.

Further, when I look at my bill, I don’t see any data usage (not even in the date in which the package was activated!). I only see a fixed data use of 10 kb when the package is activated - a bit suspicious that this is the only data charge.

Swisscom hasn’t helped at all (neither chat not the shop in Geneva). I keep being told that I don’t know how to use my phone. Still, now I see the following message in my account (* Due to a technical error, incorrect figures are being displayed for the amount of data that some customers have used. We are currently working to rectify this problem. Thank you for your understanding.)

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thank you,
Andrea

yes I get this frequently too. So I call each time and insist they refund. I now have a number to call from abroad, as the helpline free number only works in Switzerland 😞

It is very annoying and they keep saying they have blocked it from hapening.

Had the same problem, there is one setting buried somewhere in cockpit wich disactivates this service. For me it was funny 10 MB for one month.

Thanks for your reply. I was “forced” to move to a new contract (pay as you go still), but with higher costs for calls. They kept denying the problem and blamed me, until I found out that of course they were happy to migrate my contract to a new and better one! I am quite upset by the way this has been handled.
