Hello Matthias, thanks for the tip, but the link doesn’t take me anywhere:-[.

But I still came to the My Service page thanks to Google. Three subscriptions are presented there, but I don’t need a subscription, I just need an answer to my question, there’s a forum for that, or am I misunderstanding something 😮

You can forget about the project with an IB. Rather with a Centro Business or with a ZyXel P-870H.

Stupid question but why shouldn’t this work with IB? It has DynDNS, a DMZ and what is missing?

Apart from the fact that I personally use and prefer Synology with its cloud options

@alaska65 because the IB doesn’t offer as many setting options as the other routers. Search the forum for *WD*, there are a lot of questions about the IB sometimes it works or not.

The number of setting options is by no means a quality criterion. At the latest with Rel. 7, which will be released in the next few weeks, there should be no more problems with the WD (as long as the WD is also up to date).

@hed for me (setting options). For me, the IB+ is a nice-to-have router, but not a serious piece of equipment, more of a toy. My equipment is in a completely different league. That’s why I’m waiting to see what new things the Banana Box (IB) brings with the new firmware. I’d rather stick with Mikrotik, because I know what I have, period.

@user109 Logically, Mikrotik is something other than a ’people’s router’ from Swisscom.

How many already know what VRRP is - and even fewer need it.

I’m assuming that in this case you have attached the router behind the IB (as a DSL modem) as a DMZ and are just looping everything through? I don’t have an IB yet because I’ve been more than happy with the Fritz.Box so far (yes, except for the extremely late int. FirmWare versions).

However, the decision for me is cable or DSL because our village saint thinks we have fiber optic - but only keep it open for the cable provider. I’m currently gathering information to find out what the better way is for the household. Hence the question as to whether you have put everything in the DMZ.

The functionality with the new firmware of the IB goes quite far for private users - especially since my son can now happily attach his internal SIP telephones directly to it. Personally it would be more helpful to me if I could bind the SIP credentials directly to my Asterisk. But that is another topic.

So 1. If I have a fiber optic Anschluss on which I run the Mikrotik directly or the IB+ for testing purposes. Since I work in field service, I am constantly in contact with all kinds of routers that are connected to the SC network, so I know what I’m talking about. I like to experiment with network technology. That’s why the IB isn’t open enough for me. Free travel for free citizens. For the home DAU, an IB may not be enough for me.

I still have an ISDN Anschluss with ADSL as a backup for the fiber line, with a 7390 CH FB attached to it, flashed to D firmware (i.e. always the latest updates) and also with the much sought-after SIP data, it has been working great for about 2.5 years, also in the USA if there is enough bandwidth, as an alternative to Skype and Whatsapp.
