Remote internet box access

  • Hello, I connected an external drive to my internet box. I see it from home both with my computer and with my tablet. I was told that you couldn’t see it remotely with the computer but that it was possible with the Surface tablet. But you would have to install software on the tablet. How to do it?

    Thank you for your help.

Hello, yes it is also possible from a PC, smartphone, tab. You must first activate the DynDNS and the VPN function in the internet-box interface[(the whole procedure on this link)](https://www.swisscom.ch/fr/clients-prives/aide /loesung/vpn-server.html)
and then more specific for the surface you find [how to configure it here.](http://www.microsoft.com/surface/fr-ch/support/networking-and-connectivity/connect-to-a-vpn?os =windows-10)
and then you simply act as if you were connected via WLAN at home.
    Greetings

Many thanks for all these explanations. I’m almost at the end of activating the VPN function but at the end it shows me the error: “The service cannot connect to the dynamic DNS server”

This error occurs when I want to register the activation of the DNS service.

Indeed as seen HERE, it seems that the DynDNS service is not in the best shape…:smileyfrustrated:.
to test later (hours/days). It worked for me a few days ago…

For my part, I also successfully configured the VPN, with the aim of being able to access the films stored on my hard drive remotely, from my iPhone, using the VLC application.

However, when I am connected via VPN and I go to the VLC application, I select the “Local network” tab (tab where the hard drive that I connected to my Internet Box normally appears, when I am connected to my home WiFi), but nothing appears…

Any idea where this could come from?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, it’s simpler to employer PLEX which works like a server and which you install on your computer and on the one you have remotely. The remote one will give you a code for the connection. For me it works but you need a little patience to understand everything. Good luck
