If your ping is normal with other servers, e.g. those of speedtest, it comes from a problem on the route between swisscom and the server.

If you can get the server address and do a traceroute (tracert*) that will clarify the situation.

*windows key + r
cmd then enter
tracertserveripaddresswithoutport

This type of problem is common for games like League of Legends or others.
Unfortunately, this is a problem independent of the swisscom network. It is often after leaving the swisscom network that one of the gateways is overloaded, causing an increase in latency time.

Thank you for your comment, even if I don’t understand all the terms.

But if I summarize, I can’t do anything? If I called them and dictated your message, would they understand?

Thank you for your clarification in any case

For the internet, information passes from one network to another as for the post office.
If you send a package to Spain it goes with the Swiss post office to France and then other posts take over. It’s the same with the internet.
Swisscom will take the packets to the next point for example in Germany at de-cix (which is in Frankfurt) then the data will go through other networks.

Using the tracert command in Windows allows you to see how long it takes for information to go to each gateway.
This way you can see where the problem is. (here the latency time increases significantly)

So, without additional information we cannot say anything except that
if the line (the swisscom part) had a problem the latency would also be problematic for the speedtest.

Thank you again for your response;

However, do you have an address lol so that I can do the tracing? I did some research but I can’t find any and above all I don’t know if they are the right ones.

You should do a tracert when the ping is bad.
Here we see that your connection is not optical fiber and that it is good.
12 ms to arrive in Zurich then it leaves the Swisscom network to go to France via gtt.

When you are in a game with bad ping you can try to see the server’s IP address via the Windows Resource Monitor. This by looking at which ips address (there are always several) leagueoflegends.exe or lol.exe is connected. In these, there will be those for messages and that of the current game server.

According to the traceroute that you did when there was a problem, it seems that it is indeed not a problem directly linked to swisscom but rather a problem linked to the part after swisscom.

To find the addresses to test, you must use the Windows key at the same time as R.
write in the dialog box “resmon” then press Enter or click OK.

Then, you have to go to the network tab then TCP connections.
In this list, you must identify lol.exe or leagueoflegends.exe (the name of the executable) and look at the remote address part.
I recommend writing them down or taking a screenshot to have them on hand.

If you find them, I would like to try to do a plot to see if we have similar results.

Good evening.

The IP address tested by your friend looks fake, it redirects to users…

Otherwise I played a game and got the IP address 185.40.67.169 and I had 38ms.

If not, what is your hardware configuration? (this could also come from the PC which would be overloaded by the game)
If the hardware configuration is the issue, lowering the game’s graphics options should help.

Has the problem ever occurred while you were both in the same game?

Depending on the server load, they redirect to servers located in the USA, hence the poor latency time.

Otherwise, there is still a possibility.
At Swisscom, depending on your IP address, you have a different latency time. Which is very strange.
For example, by having an IP address that starts with 85.6.244.* you can, on the same server, have 26 or 12 milliseconds.
Try restarting your box hoping to have an IP address that starts for example with 178…. or 83 (it’s quite the lottery)

Yes I already had 80 pings in the same part as with him and another on his network and they had 40.

Otherwise as far as my equipment is concerned, everything is fine I think, a fairly sturdy PC and never wi-fi.

And why, by the way, do you say that my friend’s tracert is false? he has a cfc computer scientist and knows quite a bit about it^^

otherwise have a good evening

PS: I put a screenshot I just discovered resmon I skipped your answer ^^
