I finally placed an order and received the following material this Friday:

- a Zyxel 3512 media converter (CTV-3512W2A more precisely, in fact perhaps Endymion could confirm to me that it is indeed the right converter because it seems that there are several models: https://www.studerus.ch/de/support/download/59740_1))

- A USG60 firewall finally

- a Zyxel GS1900-8 Smart Managed Switch

I plan to install this week but would like to be sure that the CTV-3512W2A is the right one. If anyone could confirm that would be great…

Come on, I’ll add my rant post…

8 hours of tinkering so that my Netgear r7000 dd-wrt (kong) could cope with the bulk of the work. Impossible.

I tried almost everything:

* Live, r7000 directly on the wall: dhcp option 60 + vlan 10 tagged + mac cloning of piccolo, forcing physical port parameters to 100m/full duplex –> no link

* The piccolo in IP passthrough mode: where are the options? Simply a “User Configured PC”. The WAN port of my r7000 configured in DHCP mode does not catch anything. Even if I set the IP to static it doesn’t work.

--> Nothing

In short, it’s a bit ch*** all the same.

I tweeted swisscom_care, see if they can pass on any info. Quite responsive most of the time, to see if it will be the same on slightly more touchy subjects.

I will update if there is anything new, see I will probably write a tutorial.

I want to put a VPN router behind my Internet-Box since the box’s VPN server does not allow Lan-to-LAN.

This proprietary stuff is tiring.

I would like to replace my router the one that was put up on a stand with this centro grande router but I don’t know how much it will cost me, can someone tell me how much. I have to pay for this router thank you. In advance

I am a new Swissom Internet / TV customer…I unpacked and installed the Internet-Box yesterday…and I discovered the problem. I have a great, well-configured router, more solid and powerful than the internet-box and I can no longer use it???

You need passthrough…it’s just obvious. Not all swisscom customers are ordinary users. It’s really a shame that you put us all in the same boat.

Perhaps a moderator could advise which Swisscom hardware allows IP passthrough to be used? THANKS

For my part, I have started the process of switching to another operator, who lets you install the router you want. It’s faster and cheaper, which doesn’t hurt anything.

The Internet-Box is a real pain, it has very average routing capacity and crashes regularly as soon as you reach more than 200 output connections which is very common with certain types of use.

Well, I would be interested to know which operator offers more freedom at this level. Because, therefore, not sure of staying longer than the next term of the contract. Damage.

For my part, I have just subscribed to Swisscom fiber, in Meyrin, with a standard internet box. previously, I took care to contact their technical service who (I recorded the conversation) contacted me again the next day and assured me that it is possible to put their box in bridge mode. We’ll see in a few days. If not possible, I resiliate also dry.

They have their own VPN which allows you to enter with a PC but not to do Lan-to-Lan.

The supplier with the famous 7 seems to be better except that it’s charlots, they promised me April then May then June…

so, after a few calls to Swisscom, here is what came out. After explaining that I had a technician who assured me that there was a bridge mode on the standard box, the latter immediately contacted me again to explain that level two had misunderstood and thought that I wanted a DMZ port…

Well, with that he offers me an Asus RT AC 66U router, which doesn’t help me at all given that it doesn’t have an SFP port.

I therefore redirect the technician to the fiber7 supplier, who exposes his ftth compatible hardware.

After a few minutes of waiting, the technician came back to me confirming the compatibility of the TP-Link MC220L with the vivo ftth packs and offering me a discount of 111chf on my bill, which corresponds to the kit at fiber7.

I ordered the TP Link transciver myself, we will see. If it works well, once again I take my hat off to the excellent Swisscom service.

The fiber -> Ethernet conversion with the transceiver is not complicated but it is not enough. Then it will be necessary to configure your routing equipment to “emulate” the configuration of the Internet Box and this is where it gets complicated because it is not supported or documented by Swisscom. From memory, you must tag on a specific VLAN and add a specific option in the DHCP request.
