And why exactly not with an S6 that is less than a year old? I just don’t understand that. Driving the consumer society ever further…

My girlfriend also has an S6 and doesn’t have it… that’s just the way it is…
And I think Guido has already explained this above

It’s an Android 6.x feature… I don’t understand why it’s made hardware dependent.

Reason was, is like that because is like that.

It makes zero sense from a technical perspective. I don’t understand this attitude, especially when you see that the competition here is more open.

This attitude from the ISPs annoys me… it starts with the router requirement and ends with “You have to buy the latest device”.

The landfills in Africa thank us for exemplifying this kind of thinking…

I have the Wifi calling menu item on my dual sim. You can also turn it on, but there is no symbol on the top screen, so I’m assuming it doesn’t work.

Just had to deal with this recently. WLAN calls work here via an app (Zoiper) for an old Nokia with, er, a Fritzbox. I would assume that Android has something like that on offer.
However, I cannot judge to what extent the swisscom special Böxli will stand in the way.

@FlySmurf

If there is Swisscom software at sammobile.com, it will most likely work with it, or conversely, if there is no such software, it will most likely not work. That’s the generic answer. With Android devices, Swisscom (currently) has the general restriction that prioritization of WiFi calling is not possible. Even the worst cell phone reception causes the device to switch to cell phone priority. Only iPhones remain on WiFi calling with reception < 3 points.

The DUOS variants have a different model number and therefore it is not necessarily possible to draw conclusions from one model to the other. It is true that after a long, long time, Swisscom has released the free models of the Galaxy 7 series. Let’s hope that this heralds the long-overdue new era and stays that way in the long term (other models were only capable of Wi-Fi calling temporarily or until an update).

You can install the Swisscom firmware on the Duos, but you can only change the CSC file to SWC with root; for me it always came from Vodafon.

The device works perfectly, but as I already wrote, I don’t know whether WifiCalling works properly or not. But I don’t care at the moment, I have a great device with two SIM cards.

Hello everyone,

I have another problem. Since last week I have had VOLTE and WifiCalling activated on my Samsung Galaxy S7 (not branded by Swisscom). I have a personal cell phone and a business cell phone. Every weekend I forward calls from your business cell phone to your private one and vice versa during the week. On Friday I wanted to deactivate call forwarding again on the private device that Volte received. However, I always get the error message: Unable to read data. Network or SIM card error. It worked without any problems on the other cell phone without Volte. Called the hotline after trying to remove the diversion for 45 minutes. The hotline then removed your call forwarding and said: We have a lot of problems with VoLTE. Just keep trying. Have any of you already tried call forwarding? Does it work for you or is this a general problem, which of course would be stupid. Thank you very much for your feedback.

Is VoLTE and WifiCalling also possible with a light subscription (S or XS light)?

Google is not “my friend” on this topic. Swisscom online Help writes: Contact a Swisscom shop. The Swisscom shop employee says: “I have to go”. So I switched from prepaid to a subscription in the shop and now I still don’t have the functions. What now? Is there an exact answer to this?

I recently contacted Swisscom’s online advice service with this question as to whether VoLTE is also available for the S subscription. I received the following answer: If your phone supports it, yes.

Regarding VoLTE/WifiCalling with light subscriptions: I sent “START VOLTE” to 444. Back came: The use of VoLTE is not possible with this subscription. We would be happy to advise you in the Swisscom Shop (www.swisscom.ch/shops).

Dear Swisscom, I came from the shop and that’s why I switched to the subscription…

In between, WifiCalling no longer worked on another device (iPhone SE) after switching from an entry subscription to an S light subscription (it worked before).

What do I do now? Since I have poor reception in my house, WifiCalling was a reason for me to switch. Now I have higher costs and no additional function…

So, does anyone have WifiCalling on a light subscription?

Can a Swisscom employee advise me on my next steps? And no, I don’t plan on switching to a more expensive subscription…

@SamuelD I should have taken note of your post, there is nothing about light and on the referenced website. Advanced Calling…

@Alex75 I have the same problem. Since VoLTE was activated for me, I can no longer switch redirections on or off. I always get an error message. Video telephony has also stopped working since then. Neither incoming nor outgoing.
