On 22 June 2011, between midnight and 6:00 a.m., Swisscom will be activating the new IP addresses for the GPRS service. This update may affect SMEs and large companies that use one of our mobile data services. Our SME customers have already been informed about this in writing.
The GPRS service enables data to be transmitted via mobile Internet connections. On 22 June new addresses will be added to the existing IP address range. During this update, all GPRS services will be disconnected briefly; they will then re-establish a connection automatically following this. VPN connections (Virtual Private Networks), however, will need to be re-established manually.
If you incur problems with mobile Internet connections after this maintenance work has been completed, please proceed as follows:
Check your firewall settings. Some customers have configured their firewalls in such a way that only the previously assigned IP addresses from Swisscom can pass through. With such restrictive settings, the new addresses will need to be added to the existing ones in the firewall settings. The previous Swisscom IP addresses came from the range 193.247.250.0/24; the new ones are from the 178.197.224.0/20subnet.
If this does not resolve the problem, our Customer Center will be more than happy to assist you on 0800 055 055. Swisscom
