SCTV 2.0 via WLAN to the IB

Hello everyone

I currently have an SCTV 2.0 connected to the IB with a wireless DUO connection kit via WLAN and it’s working well so far.

I want to eliminate the connection kit and connect the SCTV to IB directly via WiFi.

I tried to create the connection directly, but the SCTV can’t find the IB via WLAN (WPS) and I can’t get any support from the Swisscom hotline because this feature hasn’t been officially released yet.

Does anyone know when the WLAN connection between IB and SCTV will be officially released by Swisscom?

How far away are you from the Internet box with the TV 2.0 box and do you still have walls in between?

It will only be released when things are running optimally and there is no deadline yet.

I can do it myself with both TV 2.0 boxes, but the distance is only about 7-10m and with a TV 2.0 box there is only a thin stream stone wall in between.

N.B. I didn’t have to use WPS, I simply switched off the TV 2.0 box, pulled out the LAN cable, switched it on and then pressed OK on the Internet box when the connection appeared.

Preliminary WLAN setting on the Internet box, 2.4GHz and 5GHz separately, the 5GHz WLAN is given channel 112, of course you can also use channel 100.

…the WPS protocol is probably active in the background and is doing its job. Or you had already paired your STB with the IB.

Funny, until now the WLAN connection could be established even after a complete reset of the TV 2.0 box?

The TV 2.0 box has the latest firmware on it!

I disconnected the 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi and tried to connect to the SCTV on both WiFi, unfortunately without success. The distance is less than 10 meters with two thin walls in between. But it works fine using the DUO connection kit (WLAN 5 GHz). On the Swisscom hotline you get the answer that there are still problems and the direct WLAN connection between IB and SCTV has not yet been released (date unknown).

It’s a shame, I wanted to install 2 more SCTVs in my room (children’s room) but I definitely don’t feel like purchasing LAN cables or additional infrastructure.

I can understand that there can be problems, but I find it sad that there has been no remedy for this error since the market launch and no date for when it will be fixed.

It’s not a bug… The feature hasn’t been officially released yet… precisely because it doesn’t work reliably enough yet. It would only be a mistake if it was a promised functionality that didn’t work as promised. e.g. if replay stalls etc.

And as with all other features that have not yet been implemented, the following applies here: “It’s done, when it’s done”.

Hello everyone

Is there any news regarding the connection of TV 2.0 to the IB via WLAN? Does this feature work now? Is it officially released?

Greetings

Sergio

No, not yet. This requires a firmware upgrade of the box.

I think so.
How large the usable radius will then be remains to be seen. I wouldn’t look forward to too much. I would consider a maximum of 10 meters with a maximum of one non-concrete wall as the outer limit.

A note on this topic:

Connection kits are optimized for a point-to-point connection. The Internet box, on the other hand, must provide WiFi not just at one point, but everywhere and to multiple devices at the same time. Therefore, a connection kit will always be the better option at the moment. Of course, we are working on enabling a direct connection for simple cases. But nobody benefits if the quality of the TV product suffers as a result. So I can’t give a date.

Even if it works well for some, WLAN and Power LAN are just compromises. Whenever possible, you should connect the TV-Box directly to the router using a Cat5E (or better) Ethernet cable. This is the only way to achieve a permanently stable, high-performance connection in any case.
